The Joy of reading

This week has been about books, writing and reading so I thought I’d finish off the week with a few questions about books.

How many books do you read at one time?
I’m currently reading two novels (because one is small enough to fit into my bag than the other), one Christian non-fiction, and two books about how to improve my writing. This is somewhat normal for me.

What’s your favourite novel?
I have a few favourites. The Lord of the Rings by Tolkien introduced me to the world of imagination. Perfume: The Story of a Murderer by German writer Patrick Süskind and This Present Darkness by Frank Peretti.

What’s your favourite non-fiction?
Again, I have a few favourites that I return to on more than one occasion. He Chose the Nails by Max Lucado, The Art of War for Writers by James Scott Bell, and 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey.

How about you? I would love to hear your thoughts.

I read anywhere from 1-3 books at a time...all dependent on available reading time...and whether the books are an "easy" read, or one to "ponder" and reread passages....

It is extremely hard for me to pick favorites...I go through different seasons of likes and needs...but I do have three groups that I can read over and over and never tire of them...Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurty..."The Visitation" by Frank Peretti...and the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling...yes, some ostracize me because of that last group...

Nonfiction works that I reread include anything by Beth Moore...John Bevere...and The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren....

I didn't mind the Harry Potter books. I've only read the first three though. The Visitation was great as was The Purpose Drive Life

Depends what else I've got going on. Listening to Outlanders by Diane Gabaldon in the car & reading William Gibson's Neuromancer when not reading my own stuff for editing purposes - which always takes priority.

2001 & Dune are among my all time favorites as are all Jane Austen, Thomas Hardy & Margaret George.

I'm not familiar with Outlanders. I know all the others. You read quite a range :)
