Top Tip for Pet Photography

Meet Cortana.
(bonus points for recognising the name without looking it up)

We adopted her in 2002. She distracts me while I write, as all good cats do.

I wish I could take credit for this photo, but hubby took it a couple of weeks ago. She's a tricksy creature to photograph. Every time I point the camera at her, she looks away or runs off.

My top tip for snapping a great shot: Patience!

I'm in the middle of a number of projects at the moment and, along with getting myself caught up with some unavoidable distractions life brings along, I need some time to focus. I'll be back on Wednesday 7th August for the Insecure Writers' Support Group post.

In the meanwhile, happy writing and happy snapping!

Takes some time off. It's quiet here in the blogging world anyway, so good timing.
Nice shot of Cortana. Sorry, too early in the morning for bonus points.

Julie Flanders said...

Aww, she's precious. And I'm like you, I have such a terrible time getting decent pics of my pets. I think it's because I am the most impatient person on the planet!

Enjoy your break and see you in August. :)

Great picture, my Patches, hates when I get the camera out. She runs away, and I have so few really great photo's of her.

This is a great picture. Enjoy your break!

Great shot, animals can be hard to shoot. I just keep clicking, 1 of a 100 usually work. And it is from Halo! Bonus points, yippeee!

My kids were the same with photos - lots of patience required! :) Great shot! Enjoy getting caught up with life!

I wonder if Charlie, Gumtree and Cortana would all get along :)

Winner!!
And yep, gotta love the digital camera. I do tend to take a gazillion photos before I get a good one ;)

Great shot! Love her eyes :) Hope you have a nice, productive bit of time off!

What a sweetie! She must've been half-asleep and mellow for the hubbs to have snapped that shot. I fail, because I had to look up "Cortana." No wonder I didn't know, if it was part of a vid game. ;o)

That photo really caught my eye! Gorgeous shot of your gorgeous cat!

I try and take pictures of my dogs, and it takes lots and lots of patience and multiple shots!

I love the picture, and I love cats. We only have five. ;) One time my dad and I went out to buy hamster food and came back with two kittens. Also, patience is always a good lesson. Have fun on your break.

M Pax said...

Yup, patience. My girls always look away or run off, too.

Focus is sometimes hard to come by. Boredom helps me... So I'll be taking a blogcation most of August.

That serious look is her plotting ways to get us in our sleep ;)

nice the way the sun is hitting her fur, but her eyes are in shadow. And I've been a bad blogger lately, but a good writer. :) I've been very selfish with my writing time this summer. Gotta do what we gotta do to finish.

Also a good tip, using camera phones so you don't miss any cuteness.

Aren't cats such helpful writing buddies?

Cortana? From Halo?

Get back soon!

My brain powers till amazes me. Cortana. I only looked to verify. Now if I could only recognize if it was the right or left side of my brain that recognized and remembered the name. They're in constant battle with each other.

Denise Covey said...

She doesn't look too impressed! I have heaps of trouble snapping my little dog too.
All the best for your projects. Just when I was going to ask for something, drat!

Yes! I agree. Pets don't always want to cooperate, so you have to keep trying until they're ready. By the way, Cortana is beautiful.

Beautiful kitty, Lynda. Our Baxter is all black and he is difficult to photograph for that reason. If I snap enough pictures, eventually one will be in the right light with Baxter in an appropriate pose--not washing the base of his tail! LOL!
Blessings!

What a beautiful cat. I have 2 beauties. But kitty(that's her real name) who's 18 now had kidney renal failure. Makes me sad. But she's still doing pretty good right now.

Bonnee Crawford said...

Oh pets can be so frustrating when they don't stay still for a photo. Especially when they're doing something cute! The second you pull the camera out, it's too late. Hope you can get some good photos of Cortana yourself soon :)
