Happy New Year everyone. 2023 is going to be a good one. I can feel it in my bones. To be honest, it's all about attitude. I've decided it's going to be a good year, so it will be a good year. So there.
The IWSG question of the month: Is there one word that sums up what you need to work on or change in the coming year?
For me the word for 2023 is focus. Lately I've been getting easily distracted. I make big plans and then they don't eventuate because I go and make more big plans or change my mind or I just do something else. Not this year. This year is a focus year. I plan to complete a few more stories before I release them into the big wide world. I plan to read more, get out more, but mainly stay focused on getting things done. And staying positive while doing it.
How about you? What's your word for the year?
This post was written for the IWSG. Every first Wednesday of the month, members post on their blogs about their writing insecurities or offer some encouragement to others. If you are new to the IWSG or want to learn more, then please go HERE.
It is going to be a good year! We need one.
ReplyDeleteGood word!! My bouncy brain doesn't always do Focus all that well, maybe I'll try that one year :)
ReplyDeleteWishing you all the best for 2023!!
Staying positive while focusing sounds like a way to make 2023 a good year.
ReplyDeleteFocus is a really great word choice.

I hope 2023 will become everything you need it to be.

That is my word for this year.
ReplyDeleteIt's one thing to make plans but another to stick to them. Here's wishing us all renewed focus this year.
ReplyDeleteFocus is a great word. It's something I'm hoping to achieve myself.
ReplyDeletePositive focus is great!
ReplyDeleteI chose a bunch of words because I couldn't decide, but I think there's a common foundational theme of courage.
I'm not picking a word, but this year I do want to attempt to focus more and be more consistent in my writing.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great word for you. I've been easily distracted, too, so I know what you mean. Wishing you the best in 2023.
ReplyDeleteGreat word! Mine is "Tally-ho!" Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteAh, yes focus....one of the hardest things to accomplish. There's so many distractions nowadays. Happy New Year writing!
ReplyDeleteI've never had a 'word of the year'. But I believe in perseverance. So maybe that will be my ongoing word for years to come.
ReplyDeleteAll the best for 2023, Lynda!
I think a lot of us are in this boat - I started thinking 'focus' but decided I really needed to 'achieve' a couple of things, instead.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your focus - and make it a good year!
Jemima
Alex, we definitely need a good year
ReplyDeleteJemi, mine doesn't do focus so well either. Best wishes for trying, though!!
Natalie, I agree!
Lenni, great quote
Diane, great minds :)
Nick, exactly. This will be a good year for all of us.
Tyrean, courage! I love it! I might add that one to my word/s of the year.
ReplyDeletePatricia, best wishes for your hopes and plans this year.
Holly, lol, love your word.
Karen, I TOTALLY agree!! Happy New Year to you too.
Michelle, Perseverance is a great word to adopt.
Jemma, after reading all these comments, I want to add multiple words to my "Word of the Year." Achieve is another one.
Focus. Perhaps I should have chosen that word too. I seem to be straying and procrastinating on my writing project. I guess I am not clear on what I want to say in this book. See...I need to focus. Have a great year!!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! Here's to 2023 hopefully being better than last year:)
ReplyDeleteHi Lynda - focus ... it's a good word, I get distracted ... I do get what I need to get done - but usually in a rush and end up feeling frazzled. My word is Soothing ... staying calm with all around me ... but definitely not procrastinating - which I can so easily do!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year and here's to more inspiration giving us more lovely stories to read - cheers Hilary
Hello Lynda. My word for 2023 is... hope. I'd almost lost it in 2021. Almost. Focus is an excellent choice. Focus on what matters. Focus on whoever matters. You can count me in.
ReplyDeleteHope you're doing fine.
Blue
Hilary, I lovey our word. I might even adopt it.
ReplyDeleteBlue, I wanna hug you. Hope is one of the best words in our language. Many blessings to you this year.
Thank you, Lynda. That means a lot coming from you.
