How to Recover from Writer's Fatigue and More #IWSG

Today I'm over at the IWSG website with a post about 5 Ways to Recover from Writer's Fatigue. I'd love to see you over there.

This post is also doubling up as my IWSG post for this Wednesday because this week I'm busier than normal. I think I'm actually too busy to feel any insecurities. Gasp! (And happy surprise). So instead I'm going to share with you a photo I recently took after the big storms in Sydney. No fallen trees, or broken branches. No debris or general mess created by the storms. Just a pretty plant in my garden that caught my eye.

Have you ever been so busy you just didn't have the time to feel insecure? (I think that's why I like deadlines).

This post was written for the Insecure Writer's Support Group. We post on the first Wednesday of every month. To join us, or learn more about the group, click HERE.

  1. Does writing fatigue include blogging fatigue?

  2. Yes, I've definitely been that busy. Hope you have a productive week and then some slow time.

  3. The problem is the down time, when my mind is at rest. That's when many of the insecurities come flooding in.

    1. I'm the same. The trick is to stay busy and relaxed in that busyness.

  4. I've been that busy a time or two or three. Actually I like it, as I become so absorbed I forget myself.

  5. I feel insecure 90% of the time, partly because I'm busy; that is, I feel worried that I won't get everything done or that I won't get everything done right, and then I feel bad about not being able to. 10% of the time I just feel tired. Or hungry. :)

  6. Busy as can be sure keeps everything away

  7. The pic is lovely! And I stay pretty insecure no matter how busy I am. lol Have a great week!

    1. Those insecurities never fully go away, but I think that's part of being a writer.

  8. I think you're right! If we're running crazily around, we don't have as much time to think about how we could possibly doing things "wrong" or comparing ourselves to others. Best wishes for your busy-ness!! I love the rain drops on your photo. :)

  11. This year, the insecurities are a bit more than I'd ever thought possible, but in the last a couple of years, I've experienced times where I've been too busy to feel insecure :-)

    1. Big hugs for those insecurities you're facing at the moment. I hope they settle down soon.

  12. I think that's the key. Just bury yourself in work and pleasure and insecurity goes away.

  13. That is a pretty little plant. I like the raindrops. Just doing and being too busy to think can definitely be a punch to our insecurities. I good punch that knocks them dead!

  14. Lovely photo. And yup, I know that too-busy-no-time-to-feel-insecure feeling. It's like running over those insecurities with a speeding truck! :)

  15. I can't remember getting this feeling. I do recall the opposite - being busy or unable to write something down. At least my brain likes to rehash things over and over. But given some of my relative's memories, that may not last long.

    1. My brain does similar things so when I get busy I have to focus and stop rehashing.

  17. Yes, right now...even though the Challenge is over...I am too busy to feel even an ounce of insecurity.

  18. Yep, there have been times I have been too busy to feel insecure. And there are times when my insecurities prevent me from writing :(

  19. The insecurities come and go...
Glad to hear you are safe, Lynda.

  20. The leaves on your pretty plant look like oleander leaves. If so, it's poisonous. Heading over now.

    1. Not oleander. I can't remember the name of the plant. All I know is it's a native of South Africa, but loves the Australian climate.

  22. I don't think I've ever managed to not feel insecure - despite being crazy busy. Maybe one day! :)

  23. Yes, I'm hearing you Lyn! Lets just get on with it! I was thinking of you during the Sydney storms, then gasp, a week later, it was Brisbane's turn. Sadly too many people died in flooded rivers. :-((

  24. I never realized that deadlines and being busy do bring good things, Lynda. After reading your post, I'm glad that one of the nice things about it is keeping the insecurities away. :-) I'm happy for you!

  25. I think being insecure often times works for you. You work harder to be better at things.....If you aren't nervous before a performance, you may be complacent and not perform your best, but if you are nervous....well, you'll hit all your marks and remember all your lines. :)

    1. I wrote a post about that once. The last thing we want is complacency.

  26. I've often had to combine posts due to a busy schedule, and I've been too busy with ghostwriting projects to be insecure about each story. I'm much more productive without the weight of insecurity :) God luck with all you have on, Lynda. X

  27. I've been busy enough that I've "forgotten" to be insecure. But I don't have to try very hard to make time to actually be insecure. I'll always have time for that.

    1. hehe, don't we all? Even in busyness, there are times when I have to push the insecurities aside, simply because I refuse to make time for them. If I do, then they take over. ;)

  28. I rather like those moments you speak of. Happy IWSG, Lynda.

  29. If only I'd known the secret to not being insecure is being busy. :)

You bet I have. Sometimes I just keel over after a 20 hour day of insanity....

  33. Lynda, that's a good problem to have, as long as projects are completed and I'm not spinning my wheels.

    1. Exactly right. It's when you're super busy but still nothing gets done that things get harder.

  34. Yes, that is nice sometimes and not so much other times. Life can interfere too, like yesterday I could not make the usual rounds on IWSG day, so at it today. Glad your keeping busy. I hope its a good busy. Juneta @ Writer's Gambit
