What's so great about the kindle?
- "Look, mum, no hands!" I can sit it on my lap. I don't have to clutch it with both hands.
- It doesn't take up copious amounts of space. My bookshelves are full and I don't have space for anymore.
- It uses little power. I have yet to test how long the battery lasts before I need to recharge it, but I understand it goes a long way (unlike my mobile phone battery).
- The screen is easy to read and doesn't strain the eyes.
- I can finally read ebooks without having to sit at my computer. Woot!
I would also like to take this opportunity to officially thank Dezzy for the HollywoodSpy Dezmond's Angel Award. I just won't tell anyone I know what Dezzy looks like, otherwise I might break the Angel code...or something. Huge air-kisses to you Dezzy!
Thank you too to Rachna at Rachna's Scriptorium for the Magical Blog Award.
And thank you Trisha at Words + Stuff for the Versatile Blogger Award.
You are all so generous and wonderful.
Do you have an ebook reader? What do you love about it? What don't you love about it? If you don't have a reader, do you think you might get one soon?
I have a nook and a nook color and I love them. I'm still reading a lot of paper books and borrowing them from the library but I love how instant everything is.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy it.
I love my Kindle! Just love it. Because I live in a foreign country where English is not the first language and libraries are unheardof, I love using it! Books in less than a minute, who wouldn't love it?
ReplyDeleteI mostly read with the kindle app on my iphone although I have a kindle at my disposal as well. I LOVE being able to have not just my book everywhere I go but my entire bookshelf.
ReplyDeleteOh I am so jealous! It's on my birthday list and now I really can't wait.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy!
Congratulations on the awards. Wasn't Dezz's party a blast? (Even if my guitar solo went too long.)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your eReader! My iPad came with one and I think it's darned cool.
Ugh...I'm so jealous. I want, I want, I want an e-reader! Here I am an e-writer and I don't have an e-reader. The agony, the loss of hair, the oh no, what will I do.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the reader and rewards.

Congratulations on the awards! Also, on the Kindle! I've had one for several months now and LOVE it. The battery lasts for a couple months if only use it regularly. I have a cover with a built in light now and it doesn't last quite as long, but still longer than thing else I own...
ReplyDeleteMy significant other got one for Christmas I got to use it first. I love it. I thought it would strain my eyes, but it's so soothing, nothing like the computer screen.
ReplyDeleteGet it back before you hubby keeps it for himself. He might. I'm thinking about it. lol
Michael
Erinn, And I'll still browse every single bookshop I pass too ;)
ReplyDeleteClarissa, for sure the intant nature of it is awesome. I feel like a kid in a candy store!
Sondrae, yes! carrying around the whole bookshelf is awesome!
Mary, I thought I would have to wait until my birthday in July as well, but my hubby wanted one as badly as I did so we decided not to wait.
ah, that Kindle looks lovely, did you find it in HOLLYWOOD SPY AWARD goodie bag after the ceremony which all of the winner received from our sponsors? :))
ReplyDeleteAnd sorry to disappoint you, my official angel, but most people know how Dezz looks like in reality, I've posted my pics many times at my site :)
Alex, nah your solo wasn't long enough!
ReplyDeleteNancy, go get yourself a reader!!
Pat, good to know about the battery. I always forget to recharge things.
Gideon, hehe, I was thinking that as well ;)
Dezzy, yes! along with my favourite choclates! ;)
ReplyDeleteBut I thought the Angels weren't supposed to know what you looked like -- so I wasn't going to tell anyone I already knew ;)
Enjoy the Kindle and your lovely awards!
ReplyDeleteI don't have one but I'm itching to get one the next time I go on a trip. It's a pain to pack books in the luggage!
Lydia, yes! Another great thing about the kindle! Great for travel! I remember lugging a massive tome through Britain on one backpacking trip. No more lugging! woot!
ReplyDeleteI have a blog on my roll that puts out cheap kindle reads everyday.
ReplyDeleteEventually I'll get a kindle.
Congrats on the awards AND the Kindle. Sorry you have to wait for a bit :(
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your awards! I understand the convenience of getting an e-reader, but am still unsure if I want one. I'm always looking at the Nook when I'm at the bookstore. I don't know . . .
ReplyDeleteYay for you!! A Kindle!!! It looks lovely!!!! I hope you get to use it asap soon!!! Oh but it's too fab not to be playing around with it now!!!!! Drop everything!!! Enjoy your Kindle!! :-)
ReplyDeleteCongrats with your awards!! Take care
x
The kindle sounds great! Let us know what you think when you get your hands on it!
ReplyDeleteOhh.. I haven't caved yet... it makes me feel so sad... but I've never been great with change. It does sound exciting, it really does... but then I think of all those wonderful smelling books, and turning pages the old fashioned way... le sigh... :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your awards!
Congrats on all the awards AND the ereader!
ReplyDeleteM Pax, for me it started out as "never", then it became, "eventually", and that turned into "soon" which quickly turned into "now!" ;)
ReplyDeleteAli, hehe, already my hubby is raving about it.
Mary Mary, yep, I teetered for ages, but it's so convenient!
Old Kitty, yeah, I think as soon as my hubby comes home I'll take it off him ;)
ReplyDeleteJan, will do!
WritingNut, I still love my paper books. I will always love them.
Melissa, thanks :)
I don't have an e-reader, but I've heard great things about them, especially the Kindle. Glad to hear you like yours!
ReplyDeleteI have a nook and love it. My son has one as well - but he just discovered the Kindle app for his droid and fell in love all over again... will need to check that one out.
ReplyDeleteGood luck getting the kindle back from your hubby ;-)
Ooooo lucky you! Can't wait to get one of those. I never let my partner play with my toys first now, cause last time he did he broke it... was so very unimpressed ;p
ReplyDeleteThe Arrival, on Amazon NOW!

I got a kindle for my birthday and I love it. I was totally running out of space on my book shelves and it is small and easier to hold and takes up less space in my backpack.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the awards and the kindle.

You're most welcome :D
ReplyDeleteKelly, love it!
ReplyDeleteKatieO, yeah..that may not be so easy ;)
Nicole, he broke your toy! Hope he got you a new toy :)
Carrie, yes, exactly! How brilliant?
Mason, thanks
Kari, yay! And thanks :)
Trisha, hugs
No e-reader of any kind. I do eventually want to get one, but it is not a high priority right now. Hope you get to enjoy your Kindle soon!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your multitudinous awards, and your Kindle! I MIGHT like one, I dunno. My mom has one and I've seen hers. Don't want to spend the $ right now though. I'm sure there would be things I like about it and things I don't. I don't like the idea of having to pay just to read! For the most part, I'm a library gal. Yep, I'm cheap. LOL
ReplyDeleteI discovered a few months ago that my netbook is also an e-reader, but I won't use it for that. I just prefer physical books, for all kinds of reasons. But my hubby wants an e-reader.
