Living in a Book World #IWSG

I’m currently in quiet, inspiration percolating mode at the moment, so today's post will be a short, fun one:

The IWSG question of the month: If you could live in any book world, which would it be?

I’d probably choose, Lord of the Rings. It’s a world with dragons, and while that might be bad for real estate if a dragon lived in your area…dragons!!!

Big parties in the Shire where everyone knows everyone without social media.

It’s where adventures happen,

Where the good guys always win,

Where treasures can be found,

Where magic exists,

And…dragons!

How about you? Which book world would you choose? What have you been up to lately?

  1. The Shire would be a happy place that's lots of fun.

  2. I picked the Harry Potter world, but the Shire is a great choice too.

  3. Dragons are always good. I might've selected Pern for that reason but went with Narnia instead.

  4. The power of that ring though. So scary!

  5. I'd join you in the Shire or Gondor - after Sauron's defeat though! I'm not very brave!!

  6. I can't believe I didn't even think of the Shire. Yes! It's beautiful, everyone knows everyone, Second Breakfast, Elevensies... sign me up!

  7. The Shire, yes. I didn't even think of that but it's perfect.

  8. Oh yeah, the Shire would be a good place to live. I'd spend pretty much all my time poring over old books, like Bilbo. That would be a good life.

  9. I'm with you on the dragons! And no social media. I chose Pern for those same reasons.

    1. Pern is also a top choice..except for the danger of the thread...but that's what the dragons are for!

    1. The beauty of reading is we don't need to choose just one ;)

  11. I'd never thought about living in LOTR world, but you find the positive points. (Hope you're well).

  12. I couldn't choose just one, but LOTR made my list. I'm such a hobbit. Enjoy your current mode, Lynda!

  13. Middle Earth is a great choice. I like dragons too.
For the IWSG July prompt asking which book world I would live in, I narrowed it down to three choices.
One is a short-story I published. One is from a popular series. And one is better known from television, but there are books. It's all on my blog.

Over at Operation Awesome, our Pass or Pages query contest is open this week with July's family saga genre. Know any writers who might want to enter?

  15. So many great worlds have been mentioned. The Shire sounds wonderful.

  16. The world of hobbits has intrigued me quite a bit, but I'm weary of the dangers that lurk in the dark.

  17. You're the second one to choose a world with dragons. You must be very brave. I would quake under my beds if there were dragons around, but I admire the brave ones.

  18. Hi Lynda - I guess as long it has a happy ending!! I'd be happy to be around many books ... I think I'd go back to Georgian England/ followed by Louis XIV era ... but I'd like to temporarily see so much of this world: present and past ... cheers and enjoy your percolation! Hilary

  20. Love your choice. I too wouldn't mind living in a world with dragons. Still, I like to live far away from them and go visit them from time to time. Like going on safari.
