During the April A-Z Challenge, I’m posting six days a week, following the letters of the alphabet. I will share all the movies, books and games I watched, read and played--all the influences that turned me into the geeky person and writer I am today.
MOVIES
The Neverending Story (1984): This is the first movie I went to see by myself because I assumed none of my friends would want to see it. I was wrong and ended up seeing again with friends. No complaints.
The Navigator (1988): This was an Australian/New Zealand co-production about villagers seeking relief from the Black Death, who, guided by a boy's vision, dig a tunnel from 14th century England to 20th century New Zealand. Apparently it won numerous awards. I’m not surprised.
National Treasure (2004): There’s something appealing about finding lost treasures in today’s world. And I love the puzzle solving aspect.
What's your 'N' pick?
#AtoZChallenge
I remember watching the Navigator for some sort of study purposes - maybe in high school? Creepy movie.
ReplyDeleteLove the Neverending Story of course :)
The Navigator is definitely not one I'd call mainstream.
DeleteI've always wanted to see National Treasure- the commercials always made it look so suspenseful. Plus, I like a good story with problem solving.
ReplyDeleteThe Neverending Story is a true classic.
ReplyDeleteNational Treasure is a fun movie.
ReplyDeleteI will now admit that I'm more of a geek than I ever thought I was. I'm singing the theme song to The Never Ending Story. That was a fantastic movie. It's been years. I need to see it again. Thanks for the memory.
ReplyDeleteMy mission is complete... ;)
DeleteThe national treasure in National Treasure is clearly Nic Cage.
ReplyDeleteI had to look up The Navigator, as Flight of the Navigator was the only thing coming to mind. I don't believe I've ever heard of that film. Will have to see if it's on NetFlix.
ReplyDeleteRemember, it won awards... which means it can be considered arty... ;)
DeleteI loved (and still do) The Neverending Story. And like Alex, The Flight of the Navigator was the one that I thought of it. But it sounds awesome, so I'll have to track it down.
ReplyDeleteAnd I always get a kick out of National Treasure. Just suspend your disbelief, kids, and enjoy the ride.
There are just some movies that you shouldn't think too hard over. It's enough to simply enjoy, hehehe
DeleteClassic movies! My brothers used to watch Flight of the Navigator over and over. Good times.
ReplyDeleteI loved those movies! I can't remember any other N movies but these ones I used to watch over and over.
ReplyDeleteNever Back Down has been an all time favorite!!
ReplyDeleteThe Navigator...I loved the movie!!
My daughter watched The NeverEnding Story three times yesterday. I am not kidding. I can probably repeat it verbatim.
ReplyDeleteTHE NAVIGATOR was a huge hit in my country, I watched it in cinema as a kid.
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised it made it to your cinemas...
Deletewell if Kylie and Jason made it here, and BIRDS OF THORNS and RETURN TO EDEN, why wouldn't the NAVIGATOR :)
DeleteNow I have "Neverending story" song in my head! "Never ending storeeee - lalalalalallalalaaaa" LOL!! Take care

Okay, now I'm officially living on a different planet. I've read three posts about movies and I haven't seen a single one of them.
ReplyDeleteThat's okay, I've never seen a single Godfather movie. There will always be some gaps.
DeleteI've never heard of The Navigator, but I think I must check it out. A Never Ending Story is a classic!
ReplyDeleteThe Neverending Story is classic storytelling. Watched it with my daughter about a year ago and hadn't seen it since I was a kid. We started the book after that.
ReplyDeleteLoved both Neverending Story and National Treasure.
ReplyDeleteNever saw the Navigator....
My N... another fun intro... of course. LOL.
I've never seen any of these! I have always meant to see Neverending Story but somehow never did.
ReplyDeleteLove Neverending Story! When I was a kid, I had an imaginary horse named Artax. :)
ReplyDeleteOf these I've only seen National Treasure. But I did like it, despite my general dislike for Nicholas Cage. But the whole time I watched it I kept shaking my head thinking how much better it could have been if someone else were in that role. :P
ReplyDeleteLike Johnny Depp? He makes every movie better...
DeleteOh! The Navigator! I saw it numerous time!
ReplyDeleteNas
