How to Recover from Writer's Fatigue and More #IWSG

Today I'm over at the IWSG website with a post about 5 Ways to Recover from Writer's Fatigue. I'd love to see you over there.

This post is also doubling up as my IWSG post for this Wednesday because this week I'm busier than normal. I think I'm actually too busy to feel any insecurities. Gasp! (And happy surprise). So instead I'm going to share with you a photo I recently took after the big storms in Sydney. No fallen trees, or broken branches. No debris or general mess created by the storms. Just a pretty plant in my garden that caught my eye.

Have you ever been so busy you just didn't have the time to feel insecure? (I think that's why I like deadlines).

This post was written for the Insecure Writer's Support Group. We post on the first Wednesday of every month. To join us, or learn more about the group, click HERE.

Does writing fatigue include blogging fatigue?

Yes, I've definitely been that busy. Hope you have a productive week and then some slow time.

The problem is the down time, when my mind is at rest. That's when many of the insecurities come flooding in.

I've been that busy a time or two or three. Actually I like it, as I become so absorbed I forget myself.

I feel insecure 90% of the time, partly because I'm busy; that is, I feel worried that I won't get everything done or that I won't get everything done right, and then I feel bad about not being able to. 10% of the time I just feel tired. Or hungry. :)

Busy as can be sure keeps everything away

The pic is lovely! And I stay pretty insecure no matter how busy I am. lol Have a great week!

I think you're right! If we're running crazily around, we don't have as much time to think about how we could possibly doing things "wrong" or comparing ourselves to others. Best wishes for your busy-ness!! I love the rain drops on your photo. :)

Oh, yes, that is a great feeling. Glad you're experiencing it this week.

I''ll find my way over. I know how it is to be way too busy. Have a great week.

This year, the insecurities are a bit more than I'd ever thought possible, but in the last a couple of years, I've experienced times where I've been too busy to feel insecure :-)

cleemckenzie said...

I think that's the key. Just bury yourself in work and pleasure and insecurity goes away.

absolutely!

Lynda R Young as Elle Cardy said...

Ah...slow time... that would be nice.

Lynda R Young as Elle Cardy said...

I'm the same. The trick is to stay busy and relaxed in that busyness.

Lynda R Young as Elle Cardy said...

It's good, isn't it :)

Lynda R Young as Elle Cardy said...

hungry is a big one for me. I'm perpetually hungry ;)

Lynda R Young as Elle Cardy said...

And is hugely satisfying.

Lynda R Young as Elle Cardy said...

Those insecurities never fully go away, but I think that's part of being a writer.

Lynda R Young as Elle Cardy said...

I've come to realise that water droplet photos are my favourite.

Lynda R Young as Elle Cardy said...

Thanks, Susan.

Lynda R Young as Elle Cardy said...

It forces me to focus and schedule just so I can get everything done.

Lynda R Young as Elle Cardy said...

Big hugs for those insecurities you're facing at the moment. I hope they settle down soon.

That is a pretty little plant. I like the raindrops. Just doing and being too busy to think can definitely be a punch to our insecurities. I good punch that knocks them dead!

Christine Rains said...

Lovely photo. And yup, I know that too-busy-no-time-to-feel-insecure feeling. It's like running over those insecurities with a speeding truck! :)

cheerfuloptimistic said...

I can't remember getting this feeling. I do recall the opposite - being busy or unable to write something down. At least my brain likes to rehash things over and over. But given some of my relative's memories, that may not last long.

I've heard about the storm, glad you are safe and fine

Chrys Fey said...

Yes, right now...even though the Challenge is over...I am too busy to feel even an ounce of insecurity.

Rachna Chhabria said...

Yep, there have been times I have been too busy to feel insecure. And there are times when my insecurities prevent me from writing :(

Michelle Wallace said...

The insecurities come and go...
Glad to hear you are safe, Lynda.

Carol Kilgore said...

The leaves on your pretty plant look like oleander leaves. If so, it's poisonous. Heading over now.

I'll check it out now. Yes, I've been so busy that I haven't felt insecure.

Jemi Fraser said...

I don't think I've ever managed to not feel insecure - despite being crazy busy. Maybe one day! :)

Denise Covey said...

Yes, I'm hearing you Lyn! Lets just get on with it! I was thinking of you during the Sydney storms, then gasp, a week later, it was Brisbane's turn. Sadly too many people died in flooded rivers. :-((

SittieCates said...

I never realized that deadlines and being busy do bring good things, Lynda. After reading your post, I'm glad that one of the nice things about it is keeping the insecurities away. :-) I'm happy for you!

Sharon K. Mayhew said...

I think being insecure often times works for you. You work harder to be better at things.....If you aren't nervous before a performance, you may be complacent and not perform your best, but if you are nervous....well, you'll hit all your marks and remember all your lines. :)

Shah Wharton said...

I've often had to combine posts due to a busy schedule, and I've been too busy with ghostwriting projects to be insecure about each story. I'm much more productive without the weight of insecurity :) God luck with all you have on, Lynda. X

I've been busy enough that I've "forgotten" to be insecure. But I don't have to try very hard to make time to actually be insecure. I'll always have time for that.

Joylene Nowell Butler said...

I rather like those moments you speak of. Happy IWSG, Lynda.

S.P. Bowers said...

If only I'd known the secret to not being insecure is being busy. :)

Hope you get everything done you need.

Tonja Drecker said...

Lack of time only brings about one insecurity in me - not getting enough writing done due to lack of time.
Love the picture!

M Pax said...

Hope it's a good busy. :)

Love the plant. It's tougher than it looks surviving a storm and all. I like deadlines too. They keep me steady. :-)

Exactly. The next time any insecurities flare up, I'll remember to get busy again ;)

Lynda R Young as Elle Cardy said...

Awesome, isn't it...the speeding truck, that is.

Lynda R Young as Elle Cardy said...

My brain does similar things so when I get busy I have to focus and stop rehashing.

Lynda R Young as Elle Cardy said...

The outdoor furniture when for a dance across the deck, and our garage got a little flooded, but that was all. Which was a huge relief. Those winds were mighty.

Lynda R Young as Elle Cardy said...

Gotta love those blog tours to keep you busy.

Lynda R Young as Elle Cardy said...

We all get a taste of both at some time.

Lynda R Young as Elle Cardy said...

Thanks, Michelle

Lynda R Young as Elle Cardy said...

Not oleander. I can't remember the name of the plant. All I know is it's a native of South Africa, but loves the Australian climate.

Lynda R Young as Elle Cardy said...

Yep, you know how to keep yourself busy in a good way :)

Lynda R Young as Elle Cardy said...

I hope you find that secure feeling one day soon.

Lynda R Young as Elle Cardy said...

It truly is terrible the loss of life from storms.

Lynda R Young as Elle Cardy said...

Thanks, Sittie. :)

Lynda R Young as Elle Cardy said...

I wrote a post about that once. The last thing we want is complacency.

Lynda R Young as Elle Cardy said...

Thanks, Shah. It's a wonderful thing to be productive. It's so satisfying.

Lynda R Young as Elle Cardy said...

hehe, don't we all? Even in busyness, there are times when I have to push the insecurities aside, simply because I refuse to make time for them. If I do, then they take over. ;)

Lynda R Young as Elle Cardy said...

Happy IWSG to you too. And I LOVE those moments.

Lynda R Young as Elle Cardy said...

I must admit, this is a recent truth I've learned too. I may need to relearn it later down the track as well ;)

Lynda R Young as Elle Cardy said...

Ha, I don't think there's ever enough time when it comes to writing. I always want more. ;)

Lynda R Young as Elle Cardy said...

An excellent busy!

Lynda R Young as Elle Cardy said...

It's tougher than it looks surviving my garden! (no green thumb here).

Michael Di Gesu said...

Such a pretty pic....

You bet I have. Sometimes I just keel over after a 20 hour day of insanity....

Stephen Tremp said...

Lynda, that's a good problem to have, as long as projects are completed and I'm not spinning my wheels.

Juneta key said...

Yes, that is nice sometimes and not so much other times. Life can interfere too, like yesterday I could not make the usual rounds on IWSG day, so at it today. Glad your keeping busy. I hope its a good busy. Juneta @ Writer's Gambit

Lynda R Young as Elle Cardy said...

hahaha, I can relate. Fun times.

Lynda R Young as Elle Cardy said...

Exactly right. It's when you're super busy but still nothing gets done that things get harder.

Lynda R Young as Elle Cardy said...

It's definitely a good busy. And delayed blog visits is sometimes necessary!

Blue Grumpster said...

To nswer your question.... yes. Maybe because I haven't had a vaction since March..... 2014 :(

Wait, I'm smiling.... look: :)

Lynda R Young as Elle Cardy said...

I think it might be time for a vacation then... or a vaccination... no wait! ;)

Mark said...

I like that "too busy to feel any insecuritites." Definitely the way to go:)

Theresa Milstein said...

I am NEVER too busy to feel insecure. But I do like when I'm a productive busy and not a hectic busy.

Lynda R Young as Elle Cardy said...

totally agree

Lynda R Young as Elle Cardy said...

yeah, hectic busy is hard to maintain ;)
